Lawls, I'm posting again
The world is going to end.
Naw, but things are going crazy around the Prime household. Daddimus and Mommimus finally decided that it was time to do that work on the house that was needed for like ever since we moved in 17 years ago. The house is 107 years old and it has windows just that old. They use weighted ropes to raise and lower (which is actually an interesting and effective way of working windows...one hundred years ago. Anyway, a number of the ropes have broken as you can imagine and if we want a window to stay open you need a stick or block or something to stick in there. So we decided it was time to update all the windows...all 31 of them. A little late maybe because the other day, one fell while a cat was sleeping in the window and hit her but didn't do any extreme damage. She limped for a few minutes and seems somewhat tender in the hind leg but is fine now.
We're also getting new siding to cover the wood which is high maintenance and looks crappy now. And a new front door. I'm most sorry to see the old door go because it has a beautiful and large piece of thick beveled glass in it. But the door is rotting from the bottom up due to snow piling up against it each winter. So fiberglass door with a decorative piece of glass in it will replace it.
And because of all the windows and siding, we felt we could upgrade to central air for those few days in the summer when it's 90 outside and 90 inside.
This did require a loan and I've been stumbling through the loops and rings of finding a good deal and getting the loan. The hardest thing to find has been the cancelled checks to prove that I paid the property taxes this year. I bank online and for some reason the bank site won't show me my account past 90 days ago even though I've been doing this for two years and I should have access to 180 days worth of activity. Bah. Now I have to make another phone call and make a trip to the bank to look at our deed and other papers to find proof that a title search was done when we bought the house. It was, you can't buy without one but there's no evidence to the fact. We don't want to pay for another one. So, that's my job for today, phone, bank, and phone to arrange for a walk through inspection. Fax the papers to the Credit Union that we joined...oh, yeah, Daddimus Prime's Credit Union which is in California can't do Home Equity Loans across state lines so why the hell did we join it in the first place? Well, we joined one of the local Unions and got a better rate anyway. *sticks tongue out at them*...and then wait for the closing. Phew.
The Prime kidlets are doing well in school. Son is evidently enjoying his new school. He's more cheerful, more enthusiastic about his work, definitely more challenged being in the honors program. He joined the Lego League again and has his first meeting today.
Daughter is being the typical 13 year old, stressing over school, dance, friends (fortunately she still thinks boys are icky--well 13 year old boys, she knows hot when she sees it having had her first too bad he's gay moment a week ago), high school and life in general. But all is well, she's doing well in school and dance and socializing a thousand time more than she's ever done before. She's never home on the weekends.
And that's the story. life goes on. Summer is quickly turning into Fall, it was darn cold this morning, our elderly kitty continues to get more elderly but she's still alert and enjoying life as much as a stiff back and hind legs can allow, the other kitties don't get along well but have an uneasy truce and designated bedrooms so that's tolerable. Our last betta finally died and I refuse to get another. The kids are getting ready for Halloween by convincing me to buy them premade cosplay costumes that admittedly are pretty awesome and will last a long time and allow them to cosplay at conventions. Daughter got a Kairi costume and Son a Sora costume (Kingdom Hearts for those who don't recognize the names). I have to tailor Daughter's because it's too big but Son's looks great (we're making a Keyblade, the only piece that didn't come with it. He can help with that. All the sewing that was looming ahead was what convinced me to go this route and really it would've cost nearly as much plus hours of labor to make costumes of this caliber. I'm pleased.
Okay, now I'm done.
